Get Started

How do you get started with your new Android smartphone? First things first. Setup a Google account, which should be fairly easy if you already use Gmail or any of the Google services such as Drive, Calendar, YouTube, Apps, etc. If you're completely new to Google, just setup a new Google account. A Google account allows you to backup information, synchs contacts and calendars, gives access to videos and apps, and provides instant sharing on Google+.

Get Connected

Next, set up a Wi-Fi connection.
Go to Menu button, and choose Settings. Then select Wireless & Networks and connect to the proper Wi-Fi. Remember to use Wi-Fi wherever available.

The Android smartphones automatically run on 3G or 4G mobile networks when there is not a Wi-Fi connection.

Get Organized

Most Android smartphones come with Google Search and Google Apps. The latest Google smartphone Nexus 4 has Google Now search that "shows you how much traffic to expect before you leave for work, or when the next train will arrive as you’re standing on the platform." Google Now can provide reminders about upcoming flights, restaurant reservations, hotel confirmations and even nearby photo opportunities. Voice Search allows you to speak your query and get a response immediately.

Google Maps provides turn-by-turn GPS navigation, live traffic info, and integrated directions for driving, walking or public transit, and also includes search for restaurants and businesses, recommendations from circles and experts, and full place reviews and summaries from Zagat editors. Want an even more engaging experience? 3D Maps and rich satellite imagery give you a more realistic sense of what’s around you while features like Street View and Indoor Maps make sure you always know what’s in front of you.

Communication is easier and quicker with Gesture Typing, and browsing is super-fast with the included Chrome browser. Finally, Gmail is always on to check your emails anytime, anywhere, or you can connect up your own email service from key providers (and even your corporate emails).

Get Captured

All New Google Android smartphones have high-performance camera that takes stunning images, letting you capture beautiful images. Look for at least an 8MP or better camera. Editing and enhancing tools for your photos are standard, and also tools to share your photos with friends and family through email or social networks.

The new Nexus 4 Android smartphone allows you to shoot 360 degree photos with the Photo Sphere. Users can snap pictures in every direction that come together into incredible, immersive photo spheres that put you right inside the scene.

Most Android cameras allow you to shoot videos in full 1080p with even snap still shots. Many provide cameras power continuous focus, real-time zoom, and time lapse mode to shoot stunning videos. Some even include Movie Studio app, and most provide links to upload videos to YouTube.

Get Going

Google Android Nexus 4 and new smartphones come with NFC. Nexus 4 comes with Android Beam so that users can quickly share photos, videos, contacts, apps and more with just a tap. When you touch two NFC-enabled Android devices back-to-back, users can beam whatever's on the screen to your friend.

Check out over 700,000 titles on Google Play. Users can download the most popular free apps including Facebook, Pandora, Instagram, Messenger, Skype, Twitter, Netflix, Angry Birds, Temple Run and paid apps including Need for Speed, Swiftkey3 Keyboard, Office Suite Pro 6, Angry Birds, My Backup Pro, SoundHound and much more, or browse the latest and most popular apps by category.
