Business Cards with QR Code. Good Idea?
Couple of years ago, QR codes were the rage. I added QR code to my business card back in 2011. Most of us were caught up in the QR code innovation mania. Is it still a good idea though to have your new business card with QR code?
Aaron Stout predicted the Death of the QR Code in 2013 in an article on Marketing Land. He gave five reasons as to why this is a dying breed. Do you agree with Aaron? Are QR codes essentially dead?
In an article on Mashable yesterday on "Best Practices for Business Cards in the Digital Age", Rebecca Hiscott opined that "Don't make the card too cluttered; QR codes are nifty, but they also take up a lot of room. Only include a QR code on your business card if you're linking to a site that is optimized for mobile viewing."
The biggest reason for QR codes demise may have to do with lack of standardized reader that gets shipped with the mobile operating systems including iOS and Android. Most folks don't bother installing or downloading one.
