Medical Hospital Care of The Republic of the Philippines; A Management and Operations Dilemma

The occurrence of the international standard for healthcare gives the 3rd world countries to uplift the standard of hospital care in the ASEAN region.  Several research directing to the hospital care in the Philippines concludes to the common problems like; infrastructure, healthcare human resource, & the availability of medicine including cost and quality factor.

Last 2010 I conducted a research for the republic of the Philippines (http://www.aulibrary.au.edu/elib/cgi-bin/opacexe.exe?op=dsp&opt=cdesc&db=Main&pat=75449+c.1&cat=sub&skin=u&lpp=20&catop=&scid=zzz&sid=&iid=0000322589&lang=0) but still the fundamental problems mentioned above are still existing in the whole archipelago.  I’m positive enough that not only the national agencies and the national government will not address to this issue but rather this will affect to the World Health standard.
Migration of health workers for example will allow the higher demand of medical practitioner and lowering the standard of medical service depriving the perceived medical service expectations of the patients in general.

Granting that the medical technology of the country is still lagging behind compared to other ASEAN and ASIAN countries but it doesn’t mean that we will stay forever in this kind of medical service status.  Good incentives for medical practitioners allow new medical professionals to upgrade academically towards their line of expertise preventing the monopolistic act of the limited medical practitioner of the country.  Good healthcare starts from the sound Hospital Management and flow of operations from the admittance of patients up to the patient’s discharge.

We as Filipinos cannot always use as an excuse that we are poor and therefore we cannot give quality service to our country.  We need to improve in our state of medical service.  Politically, healthcare policies in our country are constantly changing to the point that medical protocols from a given year will not synchronize to the next succeeding year.  From the title of the business alone, HOSPITAL CARE BUSINESS.  We need to show (both public and private institutions) intangible care given to patients in general.

This national task cannot be achieved if the perceived attitude of the whole Filipino race is still lagging behind the concept of being contented and giving our Filipino no choice except to wait in long lines outside the hospital vicinity.  Note, this kind of business involves life of our Filipino brothers.  This is not a joke, I hope this blog will re-echo to the online media to help our Philippine Medical Care.
