Europe’s biggest car show opened in Frankfurt on Tuesday against a tough backdrop for the industry. Except for a couple of outliers -- most notably Ferrari and Fiat Chrysler -- global auto stocks have underperformed the broader market this year. The diesel scandal has weighed on manufacturers including Volkswagen and BMW, while a sales slump in the U.S. has affected the entire industry.
